European Film Festival kicks off at Metropolis Empire Sofil
The 17th annual European Film Festival kicked off its film screenings on November 25th at Cinema Metropolis Empire Sofil. The festival began with the Belgian film Loft by Erik Van Looy and until December 5ht, 32 movies will be viewed.
Young audience will have the chance to view animated short films, a feature film from Switzerland, the Festival’s guest country and 21 short films produced by students of seven Lebanese audiovisual schools.
The festival will also take place in Tripoli (2-5 December), Saida (7-9 December) and Zahle (9-11 December) with a number of films being shown in the three cities.
Within the framework of the Festival, the Metropolis Association is also organising “Beyrouth tout court”, a workshop on Short Films, from 29 November to 5 December 2010. Moreover, the festival will award two prizes for the Lebanese short films: a First Prize and a Special Jury Prize.
