Beirut City Rings in New Year 2011
Tell Your Friends » Thousands of Lebanese and tourists gathered in Downtown Beirut to ring in the new year 2011 with grand fireworks, cheers and hope for a prosperous year. The celebrations also included UFA Assurances’ 3D Mapping projecting pictures of old Lebanon in the middle of the country’s most developed, modern city.
The crowd was dispersed between Martyr’s square and Nejmeh Square where the historical clock of Beirut dubbed the beginning of the new year surrounded by a large and boisterous crowd.
Lebanon welcomes the new year with a local record-breaking 2 million tourists as expected by Minister of Tourism Fadi Abboud in November. From Gulf countries, Europe and Asia, many visited the vibrant city in 2010 marking a celebrated increase in the tourism sector; one of Lebanon’s most successful sectors.
